Kristen Leer is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in the Communication and Media Department, specializing in media psychology. Her research focuses on the intersectional relationship between trauma, media, and culture.
Science Communicator
Leer has been trained in multiple science communication, research art curation, and dissemination approaches. Hoping to bridge media psychology research with public audiences, Leer completed a Research Art Exhibit that focuses on traumatic media exposure with social media activists. Recently, Leer taught her own course that had students create research dissemination articles.
Writing Specialist & Mentor
Leer is an award-winning research mentor and trained writing specialist. She has worked with TRiO scholars and underrepresented undergraduate/graduate students on their research projects and graduate school prospects.
